Dear Friends,
This morning, Body woke up wheezing. Although the right shoulder and arm moved more freely, at 8:35, we were all still in bed.
"Dairy!" Mind pointed the finger at the culprit.
At 9:05, scale showed a slight increase in Body's weight.
"Dairy!" Mind repeated her diagnosis.
Complacency, whose love of nourishment had led us to yogourt soup last night, was silent.
I was mad at Body too. You would think that after 4 alcohol-free days and 72 hours of sugar/gluten free diet, she could show some tolerance for a lousy glass of milk and a cup of yogourt!
9:15 - swimming pool and steam room, no one wanted to hear what Body had to say!
10:30 - back to dandelion tea and hardboiled eggs
14:30 - Willpower went out for a test drive!
Three days late, my friends and I got together to toast the end of another successful school year. Customarily, we start in my friend's backyard, later take it to a Restaurant on Danforth Street and then check out a bar or two.
"Over my dead body," Vanity had exclaimed earlier, "with unmanicured hands, loose clothes, glasses, and wiry hair, pulled back in a bun — no one is leaving the backyard tonight!"
Body was offended, but Mind, who had promised to keep her pleasures to only one glass of sparkling wine, smiled. The other "grande saboteuse" was here!
20:00 - it was an early night. We all have finally matured!
Complacency is not as smug as yesterday or the day before (Mind had 2 1/2 glasses of diluted sparkling wine and smuggled in a piece of St. Andre!) We realize there will be a few isolated coughs and some weight gain, but we all behaved much better than we habitually would.
4 savoured, 62 left to delight in...
